About Ink Pot Arts
OUR HISTORY
Here to stay
In early 2004, Ink Pot Arts Inc was born. In 2018, we have proved our value in 14 years of continuous operation.
A group of local parents, artists and friends gathered together to create a community arts initiative in the Adelaide
Hills. Our inspiration was to develop, nurture & present artistic projects which would have meaning for our
community.
The heart of our vision is creative engagement. This is our key for personal growth and transformation of the
individual. Fostering creativity & enhancing wellbeing is not selfish, it can help develop a strong sense of
community. With this in mind, our programme has offered festival days as well as workshops and performance
projects.
Be part of our success
As at 2018, over 4800 children, teenagers and adults have taken part in our workshops and productions. Our
professional tutors have both teaching and performance experience = expert guidance for every participant. We
create in many genres, promote local artists & specialise in creating original works. The participants of our
workshop programs (drama, dance-drama, ukulele, choir, circus) perform regularly at community events across
the region. We are passionate about offering opportunities for young people, including mentoring & skill building
for pursuing a career in the Arts. (Yes! It can be done!)
Building on excellence
You name it, we’ve done it. Our workshops have included movement, clowning, circus, singing, drama, dance,
physical theatre, storytelling, audition preparation and improvisation. We have a gallery space for visual arts
exhibitions. Performance projects have ranged from street theatre, opera & intimate theatre pieces able to be
upscaled to large ‘in-theatre’ productions.
The founding Artistic Director Jo-anne Sarre has a Creative Speech and Drama Diploma (from The Harkness
Studio, Sydney), is a qualified teacher and in 2009 completed her BA Honours, First Class (Drama) at Flinders
University. She has worked across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, China, India, the US and Canada as
an actor, storyteller, director and workshop facilitator.
OUR VISION & OUR PHILOSOPHY
CONNECTING
Ink Pot Arts is about connecting. Connecting to creativity & inspiration; to community; to the environment; &
perhaps most importantly to your own story. We are good at this.
IDENTIFYING THE GAPS – WHAT’S MISSING?
Spotting the need so we can fill it. We are good at this, too.
ARTS FOR TRANSFORMATION
An individual’s engagement in artistic expression also enriches family life and community. We live this reality every day.
PROMOTING HAPPINESS & WELLBEING
We promote holistic and sustainable living & social inclusion in all of our workshops. We engender respect for
others and the environment. We love doing this.
ARTS FOR LIFE
We believe that a living experience of the arts is necessary for the wellbeing of the community. We are very happy to play our part.
